Consumer electronics retailer Elkjøp has successfully shortened its release cycles by seven weeks by switching to Next.js and Vercel, enhancing its digital revenue and user experience. Elkjøp's Principal Software Engineer, Tomas Jansson, stated the company's use of outdated technology including Angular and Kubernetes had negatively impacted customers’ shopping journeys, and creating SEO workarounds was counterproductive. After changing to Next.js and Vercel, the improved automated deployments and preview environments empowered developers to confirm most of the release process themselves. Rapid release and iteration of features enhanced Elkjøp's ability to react to customer needs and market demands. The company also utilized feature flags to gradually roll out and test new features and functions.
