CSS Functions and Mixins Module Notes
DigitalOcean cloud provider offers free credits and enables users to write vanilla Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), granting fewer reasons to utilize Saas. Recently, there has been a draft published on CSS Functions and Mixins Module, in effect of a proposal that was resolved in February. There are differences between the functions and the mixins, as many aspects are defined within the draft. The custom functions within the CSS are similar to the custom property but differ as they can return multiple values and support conditional rules such as @supports and @media to determine the return value. Miriam Suzanne, an editor on the specification, points out the similarity between the custom functions and the new mixins. The functions and mixins work well for abstract styles, and they can abstract variables further, allowing for high-level visibility. There are still many open questions surrounding the use of functions and mixins, with many changes likely to occur before it becomes recommended for browser use.
