Astro 4.12: Server Islands

Astro, a web development platform, has launched a new experimental release, Astro 4.12, that includes Server Islands, a feature that allows for a more dynamic and high performance integration of static HTML and dynamic server-generated components. "Islands" of interactive client-side components can be created whilst most of the webpage remains static. The new release means improved cacheability of pages even when the page includes dynamic content such as user profiles, shopping carts and product reviews. Along with Server Islands, the latest Astro release also includes improvements in pagination and syntax highlighting. Server islands are expected to improve the user experience as well as SEO.
