After A Book Apart closed shop, the ownership and publishing rights for all books were given back to their respective authors. Some authors have offered their books for free online while others are offering new editions or selling them through their personal websites. Authors Eric Meyer and Sara Wachter-Boettcher, for instance, are planning to put their book Design for Real Life online for free, and in the meantime, they've reduced the price for print and e-book copies. Ethan Marcotte has also listed his three titles on his website at a discount, while Mat Marquis and Chris Coyier have offered their books JavaScript for Web Designers and Practical SVG for free.
